Pre-op day 1

So it wasn't as bad as I imagined it to be..If I found myself hungry throughout the day, I would just drink more tea.

Breakfast: 2 egg whites, 1/2 cup mushrooms and 1/2 banana

Lunch: 1 cup of cooked spaghetti with 2 tbsps of Parmesan cheese, 1 cup salad with 1tbsp Italian dressing and 6 croutons

Snack: 1/2 cup pinto beans

Dinner: 1 cup cooked white rice w/ 1 tbsp butter and 1/2 cup steamed veggies.

Snack: Sugar free Popsicle.

This all added up to about 1000-1200 calories today. Not bad! I even cut out 2 snacks because I wasn't that hungry: a granola bar and a piece of fruit.

Here's to hoping I'm as successful tomorrow as I was today. :)

  2. The main thing on preop is to watch your carbs, you want that liver to shrink! Your doing great.

  4. Thank you everyone for your encouragement!

Dee- I thought it kind of odd that my diet included so many carbs (rice and pasta yesterday, oatmeal today) but I seem to be losing weight, so I guess it's ok? I don't know.. haha. The nutritionist at the clinic said the purpose of the diet was to lose intraabdominal fat. I have heard before that it was to shrink the liver but she said that's not really the reason. I have no idea-- some of these lap band rules don't often make sense but they seem to be the best rules to follow. :)

  5. Ashley, so glad to hear the pre-op diet is off to a great start. If watching the carbs is key, maybe switch brown rice for white and whole-wheat pasta for regular. If it's thin pasta, like angel hair, I really can't tell the difference and the whole wheat has more protein and fiber than regular.

    Keep up the good work!
